Pastiche - Thoughts from me - Thoughts from you.

It is New Year's Day. A whole new year lies ahead for us to make of it what we will.

All of our lives, even the life of our nation, are determined by our thoughts, by our actions, indeeds, by our re-actions without thought but based in past life experience.

A new year calls on us to re-think much of what we have thought before, not only about our own lives, but about our collective lives.

We share a small, fragile planet, often without thought, without regard to its welfare, or the welfare of its inhabitants.

Here in Louisiana we are losing our wetlands. That is true in many other areas of the country, as it is in other countries. They are gifts to us; gifts that protect our coastlines; gifts that provide habitat to our wildlife. They are gifts that warrant our attention, and our protection.

We have other great gifts and these are our children, our loved ones, wives, husbands, and friends. Oft' times we send them off to do battle without clarity of thought; without proper investigation, and justification.

We can no longer think only in terms of self and small community. We must think in terms of all communities if we wish our planet, our way of life to survive.

How can we do that? We can begin by sharing our thoughts.
